William (Bill) L. Young, age 78, died Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg. Bill was born on July 11, 1937 in Reedsburg and was the son of Vernon and Dorothy (Osenroth) Young. He married Barbara Belda on September 7, 1959 at Sacred Hearts Church in Sun Prairie. Bill proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1955 to 1959. He then worked at Wolff Kubly & Hirsig, Weiss and Young Floral and then at Herreman's Super Club for many years. Bill and Barb retired to Wautoma to enjoy the Sand County together. Bill deeply loved his family, his church, fishing, being out in the woods, gardening and traveling with Barb. He taught his family the love of good food and shared meals.
In addition to his loving wife he is survived by his two children, Julie (Steve) Young-Burns of Minneapolis, and Will (Peg) Young of Dodgeville; two grandchildren, Kiah (Aric Nelson) Young-Burns of Minneapolis, and Martha (Larry Mikrut) Young-Burns of Chicago; Brother Gary (Anita) Young of Sauk City and many nieces and nephews.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents and sister Linda Havlik.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12:00 noon on Friday, March 4, 2016 at St Albert the Great Catholic Church, 2420 St. Albert Drive in Sun Prairie. Monsignor Terrence Connors will preside. A visitation will be from 10:30a.m. until the time of service at the church on Friday. A light luncheon for family and friends will follow at the Roundtable in Sun Prairie.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial may be to the Alzheimer's Association of Wisconsin, Agrace HospiceCare or the Children's Defense Fund.
