Wilbur “Clay” Davis Jr., 88, of Sun Prairie, died on March 29, 2021 at UW Hospital in Madison. He was born on July 19, 1932 in Madison to Wilbur and Roslyn (Sparks) Davis. He married Carol Benisch on June 9, 1956 at Sacred Hearts Church in Sun Prairie.
Clay served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War. He worked as a supervisor and for 37 years for the U.S. Post Office. Clay drove cars for Capital Ford for 20 years. He was a 32nd Degree Member of the Sun Prairie Masonic Lodge # 143.
Clay is survived by his wife Carol; children Deborah Lindberg of Brandon, Julie (Arthur) Hurckman of Sun Prairie, and Dawn (Bruce) Campbell of Waupan; 7 grandchildren, Jessica (Ryan) Dobbel, Sarah Campbell- Ziegler, Tanya (Ryan) Gloede, Ian (Sarah) Campbell, Marci (Greg) Conner, Lindsey Lindberg and Kayle Lindberg; 8 great-grandchildren, Taylor and Hailey Dobbell, Eve Campbell, Elise Ziegler, Kaylin and Jace Gloede, Caden and Blake Conner and a brother Larry (Ellen McDermott) Davis of Madison.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 3 brothers David, Thomas and Duane; sister, Mary Ann Tonstad.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 3, 2021Tuschen-Newcomer Funeral Home, 302 Columbus St., Sun Prairie, Pastor Jenny Arneson will preside. Visitation will be at 10:00am until the time of service. Burial will be at Sun Prairie Memory Gardens. Memorials can be made to The Shriners Childrens Hospital. Please follow Covid rules.
