Vincent A. Statz, age 86, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at his son's home in DeForest following a brief illness. He was born on February 13, 1926 to Frank and Katherine (Maly) Statz in Martinsville. In 1936 the family moved to Sun Prairie where they owned and operated a farm. Vince was hard working and always willing to help someone. On August 13, 1949 he married the love of his life Arlene L. Benisch. They were married for 58 years. She preceded him in death in 2007. After retiring in 1998 they enjoyed playing cards, casino trips, gardening and flowers. He was a member of Sacred Hearts Church, the Catholic Order of Foresters for over 70 years and he bowled with the forester team for over 30 years.
He is survived by; 5 children, Connie (Gerry) Horak of Fort Collins, CO, LuAnn (Ken) Furlow, of Arvada, CO, Alan (Brandi) Statz of DeForest, Eileen (Micky Thompson) Statz of Wild Rose, Elaine (Tim) Hagan of Kenmore, WA; 9 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; a sister, Mary Ann (Robert) Lunda of Madison, a brother-in-law, Jerome Benisch of Sun Prairie; 5 sisters-in-law, Dolores Drunasky of Sun Prairie, Virginia Bedner of Monona, Shirley Benisch and Hazel Benisch both of Sun Prairie and Betty Benisch of Stoughton.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Catholic Church, 227 Columbus Street in Sun Prairie with Monsignor Duane Moellenberndt presiding. Burial will be at Sun Prairie Memory Gardens Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 30, 2012 from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at the Tuschen-Newcomer Funeral Home, 302 Columbus Street in Sun Prairie. The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Sacred Hearts School Endowment Fund.
