God called Victor George Schraufnagel home at the age of 94 on Thursday, May 30, 2013. Victor joined his parents Alois and Elizabeth (Wolf) Schraufnagel along with his sisters, Bernice Grenas, Lorraine Huettner and his brothers Alex, Harold and Gilbert who went home just six days earlier.
The second oldest of seven, Victor was born on January 11, 1919 in Leroy, WI and farmed his entire life. Although Victor never finished fourth grade, he was the ultimate entrepreneur and businessman raising mice, running the Schraufnagel Turkey Farm and later raising Holstein Beef Cattle. He married Dorothy Lukes on September 29, 1956. They met when she worked for the turkey farm. Together they raised their four children on their farm in Marshall. After his daughter and son-in-law took over the family farm, Victor continued to be an inspiration helping along in the day to day operation of the farm and the wisdom and knowledge he gained through the years. Victor was determined to keep busy even doing chores a month before his 94th birthday.
A quiet man by nature, Victor demonstrated his faith, love, patience, kindness and caring through his actions. Victor enjoyed his family, his farm, shelling out hickory nuts, baking cookies, a good canasta game and old- time music.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Dorothy; his children, Michael (Jean) Schraufnagel, Marie (Mark) Kjorlie, Christine (Tom) Romensko and Janet Schraufnagel; grandchildren, Alicia and Ryan Schraufnagel, Eric, Melissa and Jamie, Shannon and Shaela Romensko and a sister, Rosie (Norman) Smith.
Many relatives and friends will be greeting Victor as he returned home.
