Thomas A. Bank, age 95, died on Friday, January 31, 2014 at Kindred Hearts. He was born on April 23, 1918 in Thorntown, IN. He married Olive Gunder on June 8, 1941 in Indianapolis, IN. He served in the U.S. Army for 2 tours of duty from 1941 to 1945 during WWII and from 1950 to 1951 in Korea. Tom graduated in 1949 from the Purdue University School of Engineering and worked for Firestone Industrial Products for 34 years in design and development of new products in the air ride division.
He is survived by his daughters, Carol (James) O'Toole of Algonquin, IL, Janet (Theodore) Williams of Cape Town, South Africa; grandchildren, James (Amy) O'Toole of North Riverside, IL, Colleen (Charles) Root of Galena, KS, Peter Williams of Portland, ME, Emily (Jason) Silevinac of Portland, ME; 9 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Olive and a brother Charles.
A Memorial Service will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, February 7, 2014 at the Tuschen-Newcomer Funeral Home, 302 Columbus St. in Sun Prairie. Interment will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery in Plymouth, Indiana. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. Jude Hospice, Purdue University or the American Cancer Society.
