Terry L. Cummings, age 71, died peacefully shortly before midnight on April 17, 2017, at Meriter Hospital, Madison. Terry was born on Jan. 15, 1946 in Pekin, IL, to the late Charles W. Cummings and Dorothy M. (Simmons) Cummings and grew up in Monroe, WI with his twin brother Gary. Terry graduated from Monroe High School ('64) and Madison Area Technical College. Terry's fondest memories were growing up in Monroe and his friendships with many former classmates. Terry never missed a class reunion.
He is survived by his son Jesse (Rebecca) Cummings, Madison; brother Gary (Novella) Cummings, Sun Prairie; half sisters Deborah Villanueva Cummings, Stockton, CA; and Nancy Cummings (Gary) Dupra, Penn Yan, NY. He is also survived by a niece and nephews: Alexandra Cummings (Joe) Henry, Savage, MN; Aaron (Andrea) Cummings, Burlington, WI; Justin (Kallie) Cummings, Rosemount, MN.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to the doctors and staff at Meriter Hospital for their care and support.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00a.m.on Friday, April 28, 2017 at the Tuschen-Newcomer Funeral Home in Sun Prairie, WI with Pastor Jenny Arneson presiding. A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
A private burial will be held at the Calvary-Greenwood Cemetery in Monroe following the memorial service.

For me, no story is greater than a simple act of kindness from TC. When times were good and he had some extra coin in his pocket he and Jesse took a trip to Colorado. When they got back, TC gave me a top of the line John Elway Denver Broncos jersey. Elway was my favorite player at the time. I still have it and was always reminded of TC whenever I put it on, as I will in years to come.
I was always struck by Terry's stories of Monroe, his childhood and his class mates. He truly had a connection there.
TC was a character of the highest order. He could be a grumpy old guy, especially in his last years. But, deep down he was a good soul, who loved Jesse, Gary and his friends.
I pray for his peaceful rest.
