Stella J. Bernet, age 96 passed away on Friday, April 11, 2014 at Agrace HospiceCare Inc. in Fitchburg. She was born on October 7, 1917 in Chicago, IL and was the daughter of Richard and Mary (Scelag) Krzewinski. She married William Bernet in Chicago in 1940.
Stella grew up in Chicago and moved to Sun Prairie 28 years ago. She lived in the Colonial View apartments where she enjoyed volunteering, cross stitch, crossword puzzles and her cats.
She is survived by her daughter Judy (James) Murphy of Sun Prairie; 8 grandchildren, Patrick Murphy of DeForest, James Murphy Jr, Timothy Murphy of Madison, Kevin Murphy of Mazomanie, Brian Murphy of Waterloo, Kellie Roske of Arena, Minde Combs and Jeff Bernet both of Carterville, IL; 18 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; a daughter-in -law, Jeannie Bernet of Carterville, IL and a neice, Sister Joannie Oppats of Mt. Carmel, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Bill, a son William; 5 sisters and 1 brother.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Catholic Church, 227 Columbus Street in Sun Prairie with Father Vince Brewer presiding. Interment will be held at Highland Memory Gardens in Cottage Grove. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass at the church on Wednesday.
