Shirley M. Tinker, age 83, died peacefully on Saturday, March 1, 2014 at Oakwood Village East in Madison. She was born on October 21, 1930 in Winthrop, IA and was the daughter of Carl and Charlotte (O'Brien) Ryan. She married Francis Tinker on May 16, 1953 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Winthrop IA.
Shirley was very active in the lives of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She loved watching sports, enjoying a good laugh, and traveling extensively with her husband Francis. Shirley was also an active member of Sacred Hearts Church.
She is survived by her children, Steven (Deborah) of Monona, Susan Tinker of Monroe, Rebecca Cummens of Waukesha, and Cheryl (Matthew) Hintze of Sun Prairie; 5 grandchildren, Benjamin (Heather), Patrick, Anna, Scott, and Elizabeth; 3 great-grandchildren, Madeline, Olivia, and Owen Tinker.
She was preceded in death by her husband Francis; her parents; 4 brothers, Dudy, Glen, James, and Larry; 2 sisters, Phyllis and Mary; and grandson Ryan Hintze.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 noon on Thursday, March 6, 2014 at Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Catholic Church, 227 Columbus Street in Sun Prairie with Monsignor Duane Moellenberndt presiding. Burial will be in Sacred Hearts Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 5, 2014 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Tuschen-Newcomer Funeral Home, 302 Columbus St. in Sun Prairie and from 10:30 a.m. until the time of Mass at the church on Thursday. The family suggests in lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Sacred Hearts Building and Grounds fund or the mission “Roads to Tanzania.”
