Shirley A. Jesberger, age 82, passed away quietly on Thursday, January 4, 2018. She was born on May 24, 1935 and was a lifelong resident of Sun Prairie. She had been living at Tall Grass Assisted Living. She was married to Leon Jesberger on May 14, 1955 and had a daughter a year later. They ran a fuel oil distribution business for 35 years. Shirley later worked in a number of different jobs, from banking to medical records to floral arranging. She is also a proud longstanding member of both the American Legion Post 333 and VFW post 9362 auxiliaries. She had a lot of different interests and a lot of different friends. She cherished all of them. Thank you to everyone who has made her life brighter.
Shirley is survived by her daughter Karen (Steve) Matyas of Mt. Horeb; her 2 sisters, Joyce Longfield of Minnesota, and Ferne Doll of California; and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins; god-children and many close friends.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Leon in 2014; her parents Leo and Mabel (Hildestad) Hoppe; and a brother Ralph.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Catholic Church, 227 Columbus Street, Sun Prairie, with Monsignor Duane Moellenberndt presiding. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 6p.m. on Monday, January 29, 2018 at Tuschen-Newcomer Funeral Home, 302 Columbus St., Sun Prairie. Private Interment will be held at Sun Prairie Memory Gardens. Shirley left a note saying she “would like the memory of her to be a happy one”. She is finally out of pain and is where she wanted to be…in Leon's arms, “country roads take her home to the place she belongs…” Mom and Dad I love you always and all ways.
