Sun Prairie——-Ruth E. Weisensel, age 93, passed away on Saturday, March 9, 2024 At Agrace Hospice in Fitchburg. She was born on October 19, 1930 in Sun Prairie and was the daughter of Adolph and Gertrude (Balzer) Thomas. She married Gene Weisensel in 1951. She worked for the State of Wisconsin at Dane County Human Services.
She is survived by her children, Linda Reichert, Connie Weisensel, Jeff Weisensel, Larry (Lynn) Weisensel, Craig (Jacki) Weisensel; 9 grandchildren, Andy Reichert, Alan Reichert, Elizabeth (Guy) Stratton, Valerie Maerz, Allison (Marc) Scott, Taylor (Hannah) Weisensel, Mason Weisensel, Dallas Weisensel, Jess Aspinwal; 8 great grandchildren Dalton, Isabelle, Kaisha, Corbin, Grace. Marc Jr. Adelyn, Liam, Sophee.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Eugene in 1994; a son-in-law Robert Reichert; 2 sisters Helen Hoepker, Marian Berkvam and a brother Robert Thomas.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 15, 2024, at Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Catholic Church, 227 Columbus Street in Sun Prairie. Father Michael Johnson will preside. A visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass at the church on Friday. Burial will be in Sacred Hearts Cemetery. The family suggests in lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Sacred Hearts Endowment fund or Agrace HospiceCare.
