Ruth E. Knutson, Age 95, passed away on Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at the Sun Prairie Health Care Center. She was born on August 5, 1916 in Token Creek and was the daughter of Bernard and Ella (Sievert) Zimmerman. She married Irven Knutson on March 16, 1935 in Rockford, IL. Ruth worked for many years as a cook for the Sun Prairie Jr. High School. She also loved traveling and playing cards.
She is survived by her 2 daughters, Caroline Benz and Karen (Gary) Tribbey both of Sun Prairie, 9 grandchildren, David (Peggy) Benz, Dennis (Marie) Benz, Donald (Karen) Benz, Diane (Dean) Paulin, Debra (Norman) Berlin, Denise (Joseph) Scheib, Angela (Louis) Lane, Beth (Michael) Murphy, Kristi (Todd) Clouthier; 18 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1979; a brother Willard and a son-in-law Milton Benz.

Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 24, 2012 at Burke Lutheran Church, 5720 Portage Road in Madison with Pastor Josh Ehrler presiding. Burial will be in the church cemetery. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church on Friday. The family suggests in lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Burke Lutheran Endowment Fund.
