Footville – Janesville—- Ruth Mae Kersten, age 95, passed away Tuesday, October 31, 2023, SSM Health Hospice Home, Monroe.
She was born November 12, 1927 in Center Township, Rock Couty, Wisconsin, the daughter of Elmer and Helen (Letts) Keehn. She was a graduate of Orfordville High School Class of 1945. She married Earl E. Kersten on March 19, 1949 at the Church of Christ in Footville. She and Earl farmed for 53 years at North Footville Road. They moved to Janesville in 2002.
She was a member of Footville Church of Christ, West Center Neighbors Club and Janesville Senior Center.
She was employed as a Secretary at Footville Implement Company. She also worked at Sears in Janesville for 17 years, and then at the Mid America Bank, Footville.
She is survived by: son, Steve A (Mary A Joanis) of Evansville and daughter, Kay (Bob) Flippin of Janesville; grandchildren: Seth (Kera) Kersten, Lyndsey (Joe) Elmer and Callista Kersten; great granddaughter Addie Kersten; and several nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Earl; and brothers; Roger and Robert Keehn.
A visitation will be held November 9, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Newcomer-Silverthorn Chapel on the Hill, Hwy 11 and South Coon Island Road, Orfordville.
Burial will be at a later time in Bethel Cemetery, Town of Center, Rock County, Wisconsin.
