Ruth A. Hermanson, age 85, was called home to heaven on Friday, April 20, 2012 at her home, surrounded by family sharing God's Word with her.
She was born on November 5, 1926 in Fort Atkinson and was the daughter of Albert and Hattie (Klug) Nordness. She married Eugene Hermanson on December 28, 1946 at Spring Prairie Lutheran Church in Keyeser. Ruth was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and enjoyed spending time with her family. She was known for her sense of humor and love of laughter, and a wonderful appreciation for music and of singing. She spent most of her work life with the Wisconsin Porcelain Co. in Sun Prairie. She was a lifelong member of Peace Lutheran Church and sang for many weddings and funerals; as well as being a part of the church choir and Ladies Aid. She faithfully shared her Savior, Jesus, with her family throughout her life.
She is survived by her 4 sons, Roger (Lynn) of New Ulm, Minnesota; James (Julie) of Las Vegas, NV; Gregory (Carol) of Antioch, Illinois; Richard (Lisa) of Verona; 2 daughters, Ann (Jerry) Dorn of Sun Prairie; Kathryn (Tom) Retzlaff of Oconomowoc; 21 grandchildren; 39 great grandchildren; 1 sister, Dolores (Bill) Wright of Madison, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Eugene; a sister, Nora Lahr; brothers-in-law R. Gordon Mautz and Robert Lahr; and niece Virginia.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 27, 2012 at Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 232 Windsor Street in Sun Prairie with Pastor Greg Lyon presiding. Burial will be in Sun Prairie Memory Gardens. A visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 26, 2012 at the Tuschen-Newcomer Funeral Home, 302 Columbus Street in Sun Prairie and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church on Friday. The family suggests in lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Agrace Hospice or Peace Lutheran Church.
Special thanks go to Jesus, who saves us; Pastors Luke Were and Greg Lyon; Dr. James Nosal; Agrace Hospice; Laura and Judy, special helpers during the past few years; and granddaughters, Miriam and Adrianne, whose help made it possible for Ruth to stay at home until her death.
