Dr. Roy Lewis Richardson, age 85, passed away on Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg. He was born on January 26, 1929 in Highland Park, IL to Wilson and Grace (Fulkerson) Richardson. He married Jeanenne Rowland on April 13, 1985 in Scottsdale, AZ.
Roy was veteran of the Korean War and worked for the V A as a clinical psychologist with emphasis on treating patients with P.T.S.D.. After retiring, Roy enjoyed time with family, wood carving, sailing, traveling, and doing volunteer work with school children.
He is survived by his wife Jeanenne; his children Sam Las Vegas NV, Rachael Sister Bay, Sarah (Dale) Schian Phoenix, AZ, Josh (Emily) Hill Kansas City, MO; stepdaughters Meredyth (Brendan) McLaughlin Lodi, Gretchen (Greg) Johnson Boscobel, Bridget (Richard) Cartwright Appleton, Stephanie (Edward) Gonzales Guernsey, WY, Adele (John) Moncrief Chesapeake, VA, Emily (Mike) Volzer McKinney, TX; special protégé Dr. Marcy Church Van Fossen Winona, MN; brother Wilson (Karen) Richardson Belen, NM; sister Ellis Stafford Palm Desert, CA; 26 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law Jack Stafford; and sister-in-law Carole Lyle Richardson.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 16, 2014 at United Methodist Church of Sun Prairie, 702 North St. with Pastor Frank Gaylord presiding. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Service at the church on Monday. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Agrace HospiceCare or to Colonial Club Adult Day Care.
