Roger L. Ellingson, age 79, passed away on Sunday, April 2, 2017 at Sylvan Crossings in Fitchburg. He was born on May 15, 1937 in the Town of Windsor, the son of Leslie and Ruth (Potratz) Ellingson. He married Carol Koch on July 3, 1964 at St. John's Lutheran Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army 101st Airborne serving from 1957 to 1960. He owned and operated Service Auto Parts (NAPA) in Sun Prairie from 1965 to 1998 and in Waterloo, from 1985 to 1998. He was a long time volunteer firefighter for Sun Prairie, and was President of the Fire Department and the Angell Park Board.
He is survived by his wife Carol; 3 children, Michael (Theresa), Dave (Julie), Sandy (Paul) Baker; 6 grandchildren, Greg (Julianna) Ellingson, Jason (Michelle Quilpy-Anderson) Ellingson, Nikki Ellingson, Zach (Kortne Hubred) Ellingson, Adam (Crystal) Ellingson, Krista Koenig (Derek Gehr); 4 great grandchildren, Jerade, Brianna, Aubree and Riley; 3 brothers, Gerald (Gail), Henry (Laurel), Richard (Deb); a sister, Karen (Jerry) Rettler; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leslie and Ruth; a sister Rachel; and a niece Cristi.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday April 7, 2017 at 12:00 p.m. at Tuschen-Newcomer Funeral Home, 302 Columbus St. in Sun Prairie. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Friday at the Funeral Home. Burial will be held at Bristol Lutheran Cemetery.
