Marshall/Sun Prairie——–Robert H. Meinholz, age 90, was called to Eternal Life on Easter Sunday, March 31, 2024, at the Sun
Prairie Senior Living Center. He was born on June 4, 1933, in the Town of Springfield, Ashton, WI, and
was the son of Joseph and Lucy (Laufenberg) Meinholz. He married Rita Wagner on June 21, 1955, in
East Bristol, and they were married for 66 years, until Rita’s passing on Easter Sunday, April 17, 2022. In
1957, Bob and Rita purchased the farm where they lived and worked for over 60 years. In addition to
working on the farm, for several years he worked for Wipperfurth and Endres in Waunakee. Bob was a
member of St. Mary of the Nativity /Holy Family Catholic Church for over 70 years,
serving as Usher, Lector and Lay Distributor and a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Bob was kind, gentle, patient, loving and hardworking. And while his life was often times difficult, he
lived it with integrity and a steadfast love of God and Family. He loved the simple things in life; ice
cream, a good movie, a cold beer with family and friends, playing cards, his trips up north to go fishing,
and he never passed up a cookie or piece of pie. And he especially loved and supported his family, from
attending school functions, setting a good example, giving advice, or just having a listening ear and a
hug.
Bob is survived by his children, Rosanne Gorder, Rupert (Brenda), Rod, Ruth (Stubby/David) Schuster,
Rock (Amy) and Rich (Kristin), 17 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his
brothers and sisters, Lucy Kippley, Dick (Bernie), Pat Breunig, Ron (Helen), Judy (Del) Endres, and Lloyd
Meinholz; his brother in law, Merlin Breunig; brothers and sisters in law, Sr. Joan Wagner SDS, Gerald
(Darlene), Ronald (Mary) and Paul (Dolly) Wagner.
He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, Joseph and Lucy Meinholz, stepmother, Alice
Meinholz; parents in law, Joseph and Thekla Wagner; his son in law, David Gorder, great granddaughter,
Veronica Meinholz; sister, Marilyn Breunig, sister in law, Mary Meinholz, brothers in law, Virgil Kippley
and Bernard Breunig.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at Holy Family Parish/St. Mary’s, 112 S. Beebe St. in Marshall. Father William Vernon will preside. A visitation will be held on Monday, April 8 from 4 to 7p.m. at the Tuschen-Newcomer Funeral Home, 302 Columbus St. in Sun Prairie and from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at the church on Tuesday. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Marshall.
