Robert John “Toot” Faust; On May 31, 2015, Robert John Faust, age 75, passed away at home surrounded by family. Robert was born at home in Sun Prairie on April 10, 1940 to loving parents, Robert Faust Sr, and Jane (Knapp) Faust.
Robert grew up in Sun Prairie making many lifelong friends. He graduated from Sun Prairie High School in 1959 where he excelled at athletics, including football, baseball and basketball. Robert appreciated being an American, and was very proud of the fact that he served in the United States Army, which included being stationed in Germany.
After serving his nation, he married the love of his life, Barbara Ann Havey, at Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Catholic Church on August 15, 1964. He and his “Annie” raised four children while he worked for 30 years at Oscar Mayer in Madison. Together they were caring parents who often opened their home to the friends of their children, making the house on South Street a wonderful place for all.
After retiring from Oscar Mayer, Robert pursued his dream of owning a small business, Toot's Tap on Main Street in Sun Prairie. This neighborhood bar allowed Robert to continue what he loved, good conversation with good friends.
Throughout his life, Robert enjoyed sports as both a participant and a fan. He made many friends playing fast-pitch/slow-pitch softball throughout Wisconsin. For over 40 years Robert led a great group of buddies that hunted deer in the Briggsville area. One of his many passions included spending time with his nine grandchildren, supporting them as they pursued their many activities.
Robert's grandchildren quickly learned what the world already knew, the fact that Papa was a loving, caring man who would do anything for family.
Robert is survived by his loving wife, Barbara, and by sons Scott (Patty) Faust and Troy (Stephanie) Faust; and daughters Tamara (Dan) Mayr and Tonya Faust; as well as and by nine grandchildren, Coyt, Keylee, Nicholas, Haley, Nora, Kaelyn, Cole, Macy and Margo. He is also survived by brothers Gordon Faust and Norman Faust. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Richard.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30a.m. on Friday, June 5, 2015, at Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Catholic Church, 227 Columbus St., Sun Prairie, with Father Jim Murphy and Monsignor Duane Moellenberndt presiding.
