Robert H. Thomas, age 93, passed away on Monday, March 12, 2018, in Sun Prairie. He was born on October 30, 1924 to Adolph and Gertrude (Balzer) Thomas in the Town of Burke.
Bob attended Sun Prairie High School while he and his mother farmed as his dad was bed ridden. He owned his own milk truck for many years. In the 50's he worked for the Sun Prairie Police Department part time. He then worked full time for Middleton Police Department for 3 years before returning to Sun Prairie full time for the next 33 years, retiring on March 30, 1985. He enjoyed working at Koltes and Moldrem Hardware for 17 years. On November 21, 1945 he married Ann Si mor, with whom he had 4 children who survive him, Kathleen (Marvin) Derr, Timothy (Wanda) Thomas, George (Janet) Thomas, and Michael (Nancy) Thomas: 16 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and 1 sister Ruth Weisensel.
On September 11, 1982 he married Faith A. Dorman of Windsor. They built a log home in Token Creek. Bob was a charter member of Wisconsin Law Enforcement Association, a charter member of the Token Creek Lions Club, charter member of Portage Yellow Thunder Camping Club, belonged to the Catholic Order of Forester's, and a lifelong member of Sacred Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 sisters Helen Hoepker and Marian Berkvam; great-granddaughter Michelle Thomas; and first wife Ann.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 19, 2018, at Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Catholic Church, 227 Columbus Street in Sun Prairie. Monsignor Duane Moellenberndt will preside. Burial will be at Windsor Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 18, from 4 until 7 p.m. at Tuschen-Newcomer Funeral Home, 302 Columbus St. Sun Prairie, and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass at the Church on Monday. Lunch will follow at the VFW. Memorials may be made to the Sacred Hearts Endowment Fund, or charity of your choice.
