SUN PRAIRIE – Robert E. Gaumont (Bob), age 59, passed away after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. Bob beat the odds and survived for three years after his stage 4 diagnosis; he was incredibly strong. Bob was born in Washington D.C. on December 2nd, 1957. He is leaving behind his incredible wife of 38 years, Paula Gaumont, his children Kristin Gaumont, Laura (Dustin) Sonday, and Brian (Laura) Gaumont. Bob's two grandchildren, Charlotte Sonday and Blake Gaumont, brought him joy each and every day. Bob is also survived by his sister, Nicole Gaumont (Max Nielsen-Pincus) along with their children Emma, Sylvie, Mason, Sylvia, Pearl, and Colton, as well as Bob's father, Samuel L. Gaumont. He is also leaving behind his best friends of 40 years, Gabe and Joanne Miller. He is preceded in death by his mother, Colette Gaumont and in-laws, Dolly and Russell Bolton.

Those that spent time with Bob knew of his unique sense of humor; many of his friends often referred to his puns as “Bobism's”. Bob loved his family and friends above all else and showed it by giving his time and effort towards their happiness. He was always willing to put their needs ahead of his own. Throughout his life he enjoyed photography, motorcycling, fitness, and technology. Bob loved to work and looked at it as fun wrapped up in a paycheck. Bob was always involved in quality both in his life and his work.

For over 30 years Bob was a member of the American Society for Quality and was a certified ASQ Quality Engineer, Auditor, and Manager. Bob was very creative and held several patents. In his early schooling he attended military school that followed the rules of the Naval Academy. Bob graduated from technical school with certification in Automotive Technology but was lured into a management position before using these skills. He also attended classes for Mechanical Engineering, Business Management, and Continuous Improvement. His experience in a variety of different roles and his successful implementation of innovative materials, machines, methods, measurements and people made him a valuable employee. He enjoyed change and always looked at change in a positive way as did his wife and children. With the family's input in where they wanted to live, Bob found fulfilling employment in Maryland, New Jersey (twice), Michigan, South Dakota and finally Wisconsin. Wisconsin is home for Bob and his family.

A celebration of Bob's life will be held at Rex's Innkeeper at 301 North Century Avenue in Waunakee, WI on Saturday, September 23rd. The celebration will start at 5:30pm and will continue into the evening. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Network at www.pancan.org.
