Robert “Doc” Sartori, age 83, passed away on Thursday, July 25, 2012 at Hyland Park in Sun Prairie. He was born in 1930 and was the son of Anthony and Irene (Fehr) Sartori. He married Shirley M. Kolowrat on August 8, 1953 at St. Joseph's Church in Kendall.
He graduated from University of Minnesota Veterinary School in 1957. He worked in Lake Mills for 6 years and moved to Sun Prairie to start the Sun Prairie Vet Clinic. Doc retired in 2007. He was a 4th Degree member of the Sun Prairie Knights of Columbus #4879 and Past Grand Knight.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley; his children, Gregory of Santa Barbara, CA, Thomas (Lillian) of Granada Hills, CA, Mary of Peoria, AZ, Carol (Thomas) of Seattle, WA, Edward of Hollywood, CA, Timothy of Sun Prairie, Rose Leversha of Chicago, IL, and James (Lori) of San Francisco, CA; 5 grandchildren, Wesley, Wayne, Emerald, Patrick and Charlie; a brother James (Joan) of Elroy, William (Patti) of Kenosha; a sister Eleanora Revels of Mt. Horeb.
He was preceded in death by his parents and infant twin sons, John and Joseph.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 29, 2013 at Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Catholic Church, 227 Columbus Street in Sun Prairie. Monsignor Duane Moellenberndt will preside. Burial will be at Sacred Hearts Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, July 28, 2013 at the Tuschen-Newcomer Funeral Home, 302 Columbus Street in Sun Prairie and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass at the church on Monday. The family suggests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Sacred Hearts, The Knights of Columbus or HospiceCare Inc.

Dearest Aunt Shirley and family, i wanted you to know that you are all in my thoughts and heart!! Uncle Bob was truly a compassionate, strong, loving man that we all were lucky and fortunate to have been part of our lives!! Even though i haven't had much time in my adult life to spend with you, my memories of him are of a man of great respect, a very kind heart, intelligent, and a great sense of humor. He will be missed tremendously!!!! I know he is in a much better place now that God wanted his angel back and without a doubt is with family that has gone before him. He will be there for all of you with his arms open, welcoming you all when God calls all of you home!!! He definately lived life like a true christian and is being rewarded now for his devotion to his family and God!! Love and peace to all of you!!

So sorry to hear about "Doc" -- oddly enough I never thought of him as Robert --only the comfortable "Doc" ..I can't imagen the incredible number of family pets, farm animals --and families whose hearts he touched... he was an amazing man. If indeed heaven is as I hope -- he will be overwhelmed with the love he shared on earth...I remember his tearful eye as he had to help our poodles Chadwick and Tuppence --- pass into their deaths...he knew the pain-- of saying goodbye. And the skill of reassurance for doing the "right and only fair thing" when the odds were stacked against the pets and our families. Our love and thanks to the family for moving to Sun Prairie and sharing the endless hours of "Doc's: love and talents with so many pets, farm animals and familes !(He never knew of closing hours -- when there was a need he was ALWAYS there for us -- and no doubt so many others ! ) Again, our love and prayers ---.

Doc not only took good care of generations of Hanneman family pets, but was a good friend to our family for more than 40 years. I will never forget the sight of Doc in his Knights of Columbus Fourth Degree honor guard regalia at my Dad's funeral in April 2007. I can't remember the exact verse, but it comes to mind now - I think it's from one of the Gospels. "Jesus said...Well done my good and faithful servant." Could Robert be hearing those words now? yup...but I'm sure he's got a thing or two to tell the angels, too. :)
You came from afar for Bob & Shirley's 60th Wedding Anniversary. Now, in reflection we appreciate the life he lived. Return home safely, and I wish you peace.

Doc Sartori took care of all the critters at the Holzem house when I was a kid. He even made a house call or two. He always had time to explain medical stuff to me so I understood what was going on with our dogs. I was a kid that found animals to be wonderful friends, and I think he sensed that about me. I haven't lived in Sun Prairie for years, and I have finally found a vet here in Appleton that I have the same kind of relationship with! Vets like Doc are few and far between these days. Your family has my deepest condolences, I will remember all of you in my thoughts and prayers!
