Rita M. Kaltenberg, age 82, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, May 2, 2014 at her home. She was born on May 2, 1932 in Martinsville to William and Eva (Statz) Niesen. She was united in Marriage to Joseph Kaltenberg Sr. on March 29, 1951 at St. Martin's Catholic Church in Martinsville. Rita and Joe worked together farming in the DeForest area until they retired in 1995. She enjoyed traveling, playing cards, bingo, gardening, the Brewers, and spending time with family and friends.
She is survived by her 7 children, Joseph Jr. (Karen) of Cottage Grove, Lois (Rodney) Gross of Sun Prairie, Cheryl of Sun Prairie, William (JoAnn) of Cumming, GA, Jeffery (Melenie Treffert) of DeForest, Dale (Angie) of Windsor and Kim (Paul) Marks of Fall River; a son-in-law, Pete Grobschmidt of Winter; 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 1 sister Dolores Dohm of Lodi; 2 brothers, Robert (Karen) Niesen of Ashton, Franklin Niesen of Cross Plains and a sister-in-law, Jane Kaltenberg of Waunakee.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Joyce Grobschmidt and infant daughter, Judy; 2 grandchildren, Keith Kaltenberg and Necole Marks; a sister, Betty Ann Ziegler and infant sister Rosemary Niesen.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in East Bristol. Burial will be held at the church cemetery. Father Rob Butz will preside. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 6, 2014 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Tuschen-Newcomer Funeral Home, 302 Columbus St., Sun Prairie and from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Wednesday. Memorials can be made to St. Joseph's Catholic Church. We will miss you mom but know you are at home with Dad again.
