Richard J. Rademacher, age 89, passed away on Monday, June 30, 2014 at the Sun Prairie Lighthouse. He was born in the Town of Windsor, April 11, 1925 and was the son of Richard and Julia (Feuling) Rademacher. He married Ethel Klein on November 15, 1945 at St. John's Catholic Church in Waunakee. Richard farmed his whole life. When he married Ethel, they started farming in Morrisonville. Then in 1956 moved to Sun Prairie where they raised their 6 children and farmed until Richard retired in 2005 at the age of 80. Richard loved working the land, watching the crops grow and driving John Deere tractors. He was a true steward of the land. Richard was proud of his heritage and family. Together, Richard, Ethel and their children worked hard and enjoyed playing on the family farm. Richard also enjoyed playing cards, especially sheepshead, visiting the casino, and traveling. He watched and cheered for his children and grandchildren as they participated in sports and other special events. He also cheered for the Packers, Badgers and Brewers.
Richard was a member of Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Church where he served as a member of Sacred Hearts Finance Committee. He was a member of Landmark Services Cooperative and a director of Alto Cooperative Creamery and Bristol Town Insurance. He was a member of the Catholic Foresters.
Richard is survived by his wife Ethel of 68 years and their children, Marilyn (Richard) Schroeder of Rio, Keith (Joan) Rademacher of Cottage Grove, Jane (John) Leach of Madison, Alan (Fran) Rademacher of Sun Prairie, Rita (Gary) Buss of Sun Prairie, Kevin (Lori) Rademacher of Rochester, MN; 17 grandchildren, Kim (Randy) Underdahl, Allan (Kim) Schroeder, Kay (Paul) Yereb, Brian (Nikki) Rademacher, Bruce (Shelly) Rademacher, Staci (Tim) Schmidt, Jacqueline Leach, James (Britt) Leach; Jeff (Jessica) Leach, Wendy (Randy) Clark, Renee (Brian) Schaal, Heidi (Stuart) Meier, Holly (Luke) Hallmark, Michael (Amanda) Buss, Daniel (Jodi) Buss, Tyler and Ryan Rademacher; 29 great grandchildren – Derek (Dayken), Austin, Clayton, Connor, Brady, Trey, Carlie, Adam, Rachel, Kaitlyn, Hailey, Zoe, Madison, Michael, Morgan, Blake, Julius, Liam, Jasmine, Michael, Ashley, Ryan, Isaac, Colin, Elliot, Kellen, Kayla and Eleanor; a sister, Joan (Charles) Johnson; sister-in-law, Frances Rademacher; brother-in-law, Greg (Irene) Klein; sisters-in-law, Gertrude Zeier, Elsie Mezera, Betty (John) Fobair , Joan (John) Handel and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Robert, his great-grandson Joshua Rademacher, and several brother and sister-in-laws.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 8, 2014, at Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Catholic Church, 227 Columbus St., Sun Prairie, with Monsignor Duane Moellenberndt presiding. Visitation will be from 4 to 7:30 p.m. on Monday, July 7, 2014, at the Tuschen-Newcomer Funeral Home, 302 Columbus Street, Sun Prairie and from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass at the church on Tuesday. Following interment at Sun Prairie Memory Gardens, luncheon will be served at The Round Table, 1611 N. Bristol St., Sun Prairie. The family suggests in lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Heartland Hospice or Sacred Hearts Building and Grounds.
The day dad passed away he sent us a beautiful rainbow over the home farm to show us he made it to heaven. Dad, we love you.
