Raymond “Oscar” Endres, age 93, passed away on Friday, April 5, 2013 at the Sun Prairie Health Care Center. He was born on August 28, 1919 to George and Laura (Kraus) Endres in the Town of York. Oscar was married to Myrtle Nordness on September 16, 1950 in Sun Prairie.
Oscar served in the Army during WWII, and participated in many major events, including the Battle of the Bulge and the second wave at Normandy. He was a member of the American Legion Post #333 for over 50 years. Oscar worked for many years and retired from Wisconsin Porcelain in Sun Prairie. He enjoyed times with family playing cards, as well as his passion for flower gardening.
He is survived by many nieces and nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle; brothers Leander, Norbert, Elmer, and Ralph; and a sister Helen McCloskey.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Catholic Church, 227 Columbus Street in Sun Prairie. Father John Silva will preside. Burial will be in the Sun Prairie Memory Gardens where military rites will be held. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to the time of service on Tuesday at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Sacred Hearts Catholic Church or the Sun Prairie American Legion. The family would like to thank Sun Prairie Health Care Center for the exceptional care of Oscar.
