Phyllis Leone (Statz) Frank, of Sun Prairie, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on June 8, 2015, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Phyllis was born December 6, 1939, in Martinsville, to George and Clara (Zander) Statz. She was a lifelong member of Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Catholic Church. She graduated from Sun Prairie High School in 1957 as the Salutatorian of her class. She married the love of her life, Ivan Frank on September 16, 1961. While raising their six children, Phyllis had a successful career in the auto industry, working as Business Manager for several area dealerships. After many years, she “retired” and worked as a Tax Preparer for H & R Block and as a substitute in the Sun Prairie School System.
Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. She and Ivan also loved to travel, taking many trips, including Australia, the Netherlands, the Panama Canal, Hawaii, Alaska, and many other points in the U.S. They often traveled with family and friends and made wonderful memories. If they weren't at home enjoying a movie together, they could be found playing cards with family and friends—usually a rousing game of sheepshead. She also enjoyed cooking for her family, and Grandma's chocolate chip cookies, layer bars, and Christmas Eve rib dinners were second to none.
Phyllis is survived by her husband, Ivan, their children, Donald (Cathy), Alan (Sharon), Lori (Greg) Angst, Paul (Amy), Hope (Doug) West, and Jon (Tracy); and grandchildren: Tyler, Brodie, & Macy Frank; Morgan & Jacob Angst; Makayla Allan, Thomas & Jonah Frank; Samantha & Justin West, and Garrett & Devin Frank. She is further survived by her siblings, Tom, Catherine Keller, Richard (Veronica), James (Kathleen) and Roger (Betty); her brothers and sisters in-laws, Shirley Statz, Orville (Ruth) Frank; Darlene (Arlis) Larson, Donna Kay (George) Bryans, LaVonne (Rick) Held, and Jerrilyn (Dennis) Sutter, 32 Statz & 13 Frank nieces and nephews; special cousin Ginny Hoffman, and aunts Violet Kastel and Glennie Wampole.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Donnie & Danny; an infant sister, in-laws Leila & Morris Frank; sisters-in-law, Teresa Statz and Beverly Statz; brothers in-law Donald Duwayne Frank, Daniel Irwin, and Donald Keller; and nephews/niece Chuck Keller, Debbie (Keller) Brock, and Greg Keller.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, June 12, 2015 at Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Catholic Church, 227 Columbus St., Sun Prairie, with Monsignor Duane Moellenberndt presiding. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 11, 2015 at the Tuschen-Newcomer Funeral Home, 302 Columbus Street, Sun Prairie.
