Patricia Elizabeth Virnig, age 79, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 12, 2015 at Oakwood Village East in Madison. She was born on December 10, 1935 in Madison and was the daughter of Hugh and Rosalie (Kenney) Macken. A graduate of Edgewood High School and Edgewood College, she impacted the lives of many students while teaching business courses in the Green Bay Public School District as well as numerous couples through her home business, Pat's Creations.
She is survived by her children, Anne-Marie (Dave) McDonald of Hudson, Paul (Nora) Virnig of Neenah, Kari (Bruce) Femmer of Palmyra, PA, John (Denise Oehldrich) Virnig of Richfield, Joe (Kirsten) Virnig of Menomonee Falls, Jennifer (Joe) Schindlbeck of Aurora, IL, and Jamie (Melissa) Virnig of DeForest; 15 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and a brother John Macken.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Mary Macken and Rosalie Prager, brother Paul Macken and the father of her children, Jay Virnig.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses and staff of Agrace Hospice and Oakwood Village East in Madison. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to Agrace and the American Cancer Society.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, April 17, 2015, at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 2040 Hillside Ln., Green Bay, with Father John Bergstadt presiding. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass at the church on Friday. There will also be a Prayer Service held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 18, 2015, at Resurrection Cemetery Chapel, 2705 Regent St., Madison with Sister Zita Simon, presiding, with interment to follow.
