Nila Carrie Anderson, age 82, went to be with her Lord and Savior early Friday morning, September 6, 2013. She was born, on March 15, 1931, in the Wild Rose area. Nila was the daughter of John and Pearl Graydon. On June 2, 1951, she married LaVerne G. Anderson. They settled in Sun Prairie, in 1961, where they farmed until his passing in 1993. Nila and LaVerne were charter members of Calvary Baptist Church, of Sun Prairie. She worked for many years in the Calvar y Baptist Christian School and served in various capacities in the church over the years. Nila was a loving, caring person and her life was filled with many special friends and family members. Nila was survived by her two sons, Dennis of Chetek, and Paul of Sun Prairie; four grandchildren, Joshua (Jen), Sara, Jami and Dylan; a great grandson, Tyler, as well as other loving extended family members. She was preceded in death by her husband, LaVerne; her parents, John and Pearl; her daughter-in-law, Joy; and a brother Kenneth. Nila was grateful for the many expressions of support and love during her time of illness. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at Calvary Baptist Church, 304 Woodward Drive in Sun Prairie. Pastor Rick Bloom will preside. Burial will follow at the Union Cemetery in Wild Rose. A visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday, September 9, 2013 at the Tuschen-Newcomer Funeral Home, 302 Columbus St., in Sun Prairie and from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service on Tuesday.

Dear NIla, Thanks for starting Calvary Baptist Church in Sun Prairie. This was the birthplace of my relationship with Jesus. You always were so nice to me and my children. I know you prayed for me since I was a teenager. You worked at Calvary Baptist Christian School for years with my mother Beverly Bliss. I remember one day mom took me over to your house on Sunfield St., one of the batteries in one of the smoke alarms was beeping. It took us forever to figure out where it was. We laughed so hard. For the last couple of years, if I ever wanted to find Mom on a Friday night I knew she was with you and Mary Jo somewhere having dinner. Thanks for being a friend to my mother. Our dear friend Nila will be missed. The Lord led she and her husband, Red, to hold a Bible study in their home which was the beginning of Calvary Baptist Church. We were blessed when we moved to Sun Prairie in 1968 there was a church established for us to attend. What sweet memories we have of Nila! Nila and Red always welcomed us into their home even on long weekends after we moved to Owatonna from Sun Prairie. Our children enjoyed coming to the farm and "Aunt" Nila always had ice cream and baked goodies. Nila had such a sweet, caring spirit and I so enjoyed our visits and friendship all these years. I also have enjoyed the long phone visits in the past few years. I know we will see Nila again in heaven!
