Michele “Mickey” J. Witczak, age 70 passed away on Friday, March 7, 2014 surrounded by her family at Agrace HospiceCare Inc, in Fitchburg after a courageous 4 year battle with cancer. She was born on November 13, 1943 in Columbus and was the daughter of William and Betty (Perry) Sullivan. She married Robert Witczak on April 18, 1964 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Waterloo. She attended St. John's Catholic School for the Deaf, Waterloo High School and the Wisconsin School for the Deaf. She worked at GTE for over 20 years in Sun Prairie and retired. She was a member of the Madison Assoc. for the Deaf and the Red Hat Ladies Luncheon. Mickey will be dearly missed by her family and friends. She lived her life to the fullest. She always enjoyed watching her grandkids participate in their sports activities. She had a love of playing card games with her girlfriends, as well as the monthly Red Hat gathering.
She is survived by her husband, Robert of 50 years; her children Mark of Colorado Springs, CO; a daughter Tina Nehmer of Sun Prairie; grandchildren, Jeremy, Noah and Isabella; her father William; brothers Bill (Kathy) Sullivan, Dan (Anne) Sullivan; a sister Gail (Dave) Sassman; a brother-in-law Wa lly (Janet) Witczak and many special nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
She was preceded in death by her mother Betty; a son-in-law Tim Nehmer; father and mother-in-law Walter and Laverne Witczak and a sister-in-law Bonnie Witczak.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:45 a.m. on Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at St. Dennis Catholic Church, 505 Dempsey Road in Madison with Father Randy Timmerman presiding. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 11, 2014 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Tuschen-Newcomer Funeral Home, 302 Columbus St. in Sun Prairie and from 9:45 a.m. until the time of Mass at the church on Wednesday. The family suggests in lieu of flowers memorials can be made Agrace Hospice Care Inc. A special thanks to Dr. Hartenbach and the U.W. Carbone Cancer Center along with all the care for her at Agrace Hospice.
