Michael Charles Manley, age 74, passed away Monday, February 24, 2014 surrounded by his family following a fearless battle with cancer.
Mike was born November 12, 1939, in Sun Prairie, to Vernon and Mae (Maloney) Manley. He farmed for over 30 years with Dairy and Beef cattle alongside his Father and Uncle Bob. After retiring from farming he worked for the Sun Prairie Schools for 10 years. He enjoyed playing volleyball, dancing and traveling. He was a member of Sacred Hearts and served on the Buildings and Grounds Committee. His family was very important to him and the Manley farm is his legacy.
He is survived by his five children Mary (Todd) Kenefick, Marjorie (Victoria Bein) Manley, Molly (Steve) Hansberry, Marcy (Ray) Cox, Michael (Alexis) Manley; his eight grandchildren Sean (Antonina), Austin, Morgan, Tom, Seamus, Hannah, Juliana, and Amaya; his sister Marjorie Christoph; sisters in law Rosemary Ament, Camilla (Duane) Farwell, Louann (Cal) Hoffer and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife Eleanor (Coyle) Manley of 47 years, his parents & stepmother Emma (Weigandt) Manley, sister Patricia Thusius and brothers in law Michael Coyle, Charles Christoph, James Ament, Dexter Thusius; his Mother and Father in law Thomas and Paula Coyle.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 Noon on Friday, February 28, 2014 Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary, 227 Columbus Street in Sun Prairie with Monsignor Duane Moellenberndt presiding. A visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the church on Friday.
Special thanks to all the nurses & staff at UW Hospital, Dr. Julie Chang at Carbone Cancer Center, Dr. Patrick Stiff at Loyola University Health System who gave us hope, and then the gift of time to live his life and enjoy his family. The family suggests in lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Sacred Hearts Endowment Fund, Sacred Hearts Building and Grounds Fund or the Carbone Cancer Center.
