Melvin W. Johnson, age 83 died on Friday, August 25, 2017 at Meriter Hospital in Madison. He was born March 7, 1934 in Joliet, IL to Albin and Mabel (Fields) Johnson. He married Celine Stadelhofer on June 4, 1994 at Sacred Hearts Catholic Church in Sun Prairie.
Melvin worked at National Distillery for many years. He also worked at Quality Machining in Waunakee. Melvin also ushered for UW sporting events. He was a member of Sacred Hearts Catholic Church in Sun Prairie.
He is survived by his wife, Celine; daughter Sandi (Bill) Thorsen of Marshall; 2 granddaughters, Jaimie (Alex) Lloyd and Leah Thorsen; 1 grandson Joel Thorsen; a brother Clayton Johnson of Apache Junction, AZ; and a sister Jean Carol Barker of Coal City, IL and his daughters mother Betty Johnson
He was preceded in death by his parents.

A Funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at Tuschen-Newcomer Funeral Home, 302 Columbus Street in Sun Prairie. Monsignor Duane Moellenberndt will preside. Burial will be at Sacred Hearts Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Sacred Hearts Church.
