Mary T. Parr, age 95, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 3, 2017 at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison, with her nieces Ellen and Judy at her side. She was born on June 23, 1921 in Waterloo, and was the daughter of Bernard and Anna (Blaschka) Motl.
Mary requested that her obituary appears as she wrote it. She attended Waterloo High School and graduated in the class of 1939. Mary attended and graduated from Madison Business College. Mary worked in Madison for a short time until moving to Sun Prairie when she obtained a job in the office of Wisconsin Porcelain and worked there for 42 years, retiring in 1984.
Mary met Emil Parr and they were married April 7, 1951. During their retirement they traveled and spent many happy hours with family and friends at their cottage on Lake Waubesa. Emil died in 1994. After his death Mary worked part time at Virchow-Krause for a number of years.
Mary is survived by 24 caring nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; 3 sisters Bernadine (Dr. E.J.) Nelson, Rita (Carl) Conrad, and Ann (Sylvester) Geishirt; 5 brothers Clarence (Alice), Urban (Marian), Bernard J. (Joan), Joseph (Phyllis) and Aloys (Bernice); and 1 nephew Gerald Motl.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church, 2420 St. Albert Drive in Sun Prairie. Monsignor Donald Heiar will preside. A visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass at the church on Saturday. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund is being established in Mary's name.
Thank you to the management and employees of Parkside Assisted Living for their concern and care of Mary during her years there, starting in April of 2011. A special thank you to Mary's nieces Judy Wicke and Ellen Geishirt who provided much loving care and support to Mary when she moved to Parkside and during her years living there.
