Mary T. Suchomel, age 84, died on Saturday, December 14, 2013 at Aspirus Hospital in Wausau. She was born on August 28, 1929 in Madison and was the daughter of Isidore and Gertrude Diederich. She married Al Suchomel on October 21, 1950 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Madison. Mary graduated from St. Mary's School of Nursing in Madison Class of 1950. She worked at St. Mary's for many years as head nurse in the newborn nursery. Mary enjoyed playing Golf and still golfed in league. She loved to bake, work on puzzles, play cards and attend the nurses monthly luncheons. She also loved spending time in Northern Wisconsin.
She is survived by her children, Kitty (Glen) Rossing of Madison, Greg of DeForest, Chuck (Patti) of Pardeeville, Eileen (Ted “Bear”) Wadzinski of Tomahawk, Todd (Amy) Suchomel of Burlington, Lori (Dave) Starker of Pardeeville and Lisa (Ken) Krakow of Rio; 17 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; a brother William (Gloria) Diederich of Santa Ana, CA; sisters-in-law, Jan Diederich and Donna Diederich
She was preceded in death by her husband in 2007, 2 brothers Don and Chuck and her parents
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 20, 2013 at Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Catholic Church, 227 Columbus Street in Sun Prairie with Father Vince Brewer presiding. Burial will be held at Sacred Hearts Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Thursday, December 19, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Tuschen-Newcomer Funeral Home, 302 Columbus Street in Sun Prairie, and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass at the church on Friday.
