Mary Ann O'Connor, age 88, passed away peacefully in her home on Sunday, April 1, 2012. She was born February19, 1924, the daughter of Edward and Nora (Murphy) Ryan in Minneapolis, MN. The family moved to Chicago and Mary Ann attended Our Lady of Providence High School, and graduated in 1942. She worked as an office supervisor for Marshall Fields for 7 years. Mary Ann married David O'Connor in 1948 and they were blessed with eight children. The family moved to Sun Prairie in 1957. Mary Ann was an active member of Sacred Hearts Church. She was a past president of St. Anne's Circle, a member of the Parish Council and the Parish Community Concerns Commission. Mary Ann worked as a cook at the Colonial Club for seven years and volunteered at the Food Pantry and Luke House. Mary Ann dearly loved her many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband David O'Connor and her son Mark O'Connor. Mary Ann is survived by her sisters Rosella Ebert and Noreen (Gerald) Jankowski
and seven of her children: Timothy O'Connor, Thomas (Joan) O'Connor, Edward (Donna) Dwyer-O'Connor, Mary Therese (Tom) Ladell, Eileen (Paul) Hogg, Julia (Mike) Hegge, and Noreen (Scott) O'Connor-Topel. Also survived by 19 grandchildren, Erik, Martin, Andrew, Michael, Brianna, Kristen, David, Peter, Colleen, Kate, Bridget, Ryan, J.T., Mikaela, Emily, Jane, Jack, Sean, Shea and 5 great grandchildren. She was blessed with many wonderful friends.
A visitation will be held at TUSCHEN-NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 302 Columbus Street, Sun Prairie on Monday, April 9, 2012 from 4:30 – 7:00 p.m. with Rosary at 7:00 p.m., and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Tuesday.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Catholic Church, 227 Columbus Street, Sun Prairie at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 10, 2012 with Monsignor Duane Moellenberndt presiding.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be missed by all.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Sacred Hearts Endowment Fund and MARC East.
