Sun Prairie
Marlene “Mitzi” Ringelstetter, age 84, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 22, 2023 at Oakwood Village in Sun Prairie. Mitzi was born on February 26, 1939, in De Forest and was the daughter of Mathias and Grace (Brabender) Ripp. Mitzi married the love of her life, Edward Ringelstetter on April 9, 1959 at St. Olaf’s Catholic Church in De Forest. Ed and Mitzi lived their married life in East Bristol, where they raised their 4 children. She worked for Farmers Mutual Insurance Company, and after her children were grown, she returned to work at American Family Insurance Company. She enjoyed spending time with family at their cottage on Lake Sherwood. Mitzi also enjoyed gardening, traveling, dancing, playing cards and fishing. Any time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren was very special for her. She was a proud and active member of both St. Joseph’s Catholic Church community and the American Legion Auxiliary Elmer Peterson Post #333 of Sun Prairie. She loved visiting with friends, chatting on the phone, and her weekly card club gatherings.
Mitzi is survived by: her children, Michael (Tari) of DePere, Cathy Ringelstetter of Arlington, Keith (Zelda) of Chama, NM, and Gary (Christi) of Edgerton; 4 grandchildren, Ryan and Troy Ringelstetter, Kylie McCormick, and Alyson Ringelstetter; 5 great-grandchildren, Bristol, Reagan, and Ben Ringelstetter, and Declan and Weston McCormick; sisters, Carol Geiger of Columbus, WI. and Mary Sue Williams (Alan Brannan) of Columbus, NC. as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ed, and brother Kenneth Ripp.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 27, 2023 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in East Bristol with Rev. Jared Holzhuter presiding. Burial will be in the church cemetery. A visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church. The family would like to thank Oakwood Village and Agrace Hospice for the compassionate care given to our mother.
