Marshall/Sun Prairie

Margaret C. Krause, age 101, passed away on Saturday, February 17, 2024 at Sienna Crest Assisted Living in Marshall. She was born, February 10, 1923, the daughter of Joseph and Mary Balzer in the Township of Westport.

She married Lewis Krause on June 15, 1942 at Sacred Hearts Catholic Church in Sun Prairie. Lewis passed away January 12, 1974. Margaret and Lewis ran Krause World Foods grocery store for 17 years. After residing in her home on North St. in Sun Prairie for 47 years, she moved to Colonial View Apartments for 16 years. In April of 2022 she came to reside at Sienna Crest in Marshall. Margaret was a member of the Legion Auxiliary and St. Ann’s Society, for many years. She enjoyed playing cards, bingo and doing puzzles.

Margaret is survived by: her son Roger (Patricia) Krause of Marshall; a grandson, Chuck (Sarah Tallman) Krause; a granddaughter Diana (Jeff) Mohr; and step-granddaughter Tina (Marshall) Iverson; five great grandchildren, Trae, Chaz, Nikki, Taylor and Brinley; great-great grandchildren Vance and Lexi; numerous nieces and nephews; and special family members, Brenda, Marie, Marti, and other dear friends.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband Lewis, her son Ron Krause; grandson Brad Krause; and two sisters and brother in-laws, Agnes and Delbert Schroeder, Elizabeth and Donovan Schutz.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 1, 2024 at Sacred Hearts Catholic Church, 229 Columbus St., Sun Prairie, with Father William Vernon presiding. A visitation will be held on Friday, March 1, 2024 from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass at the church. Burial will be at Sacred Hearts Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the staff and residents at Sienna Crest and Agrace Hospice for the care and companionship they provided to Margaret these last few years; as well as the family and friends who visited and prayed with her these last weeks. Margaret will be greatly missed, but will always be in our hearts.
