BELOIT – Lyla Lou Tews, age 80, passed away Monday, February 20, 2024 at Beloit Hospital.
Lyla was born December 19, 1943 in Belvedere, Illinois, the daughter of Roy and Nelda (Jackson) Ollmann. She married Jan Tews on April 16, 1983.
She worked for many years at Goodwicks in Orfordville. She understood and accepted everyone in the family. Lyla was selfless and always had the best advice. She had unwavering strength and was the matriarch of our family and always kept everyone fed! She was known to family as “Mima”.
Survivors include her husband: Jan; daughter: Dawn (Robert) Bird; son: Howard (Peggy) Tews, all of Beloit; 7 grandchildren: Brianna, Emily (Paul), Clinton (Sierra), Kayla, Karlie, Samuel and Tobias; 4 great grandchildren: Aiyana, Nadia, Olivia and Owen; 2 sisters: DeeAnn (Clifford) Grice, Beloit and Kimberly (Buddy), Klinefelter, FL.
Lyla was preceded in death by her parents, son, Scott; brothers, Roger and Ralph; and special Aunt Adah.
Funeral services will be held at Newcomer-Silverthorn Chapel on the Hill, 3008 S Coon Island Road, Orfordville at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 24, 2024, with Pastor Thomas Kreis officiating. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday, February 23, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
Burial will be in Plymouth Cemetery, Hanover, Rock County, Wisconsin.
