Lucille Hollis, age 89, passed away on July 15, 2012 in Marquette, Michigan
while visiting her daughter. She was born April 1, 1923 in Blue Mounds
Township on an “icy Easter Sunday” to Lester and Clara (Lund) Opsal. She
married William “Don” Hollis on March 4, 1942 in Thayer, Missouri. They
moved to Sun Prairie in 1946 where she worked many years seasonally at the
canning factory and the Wisconsin Cheeseman while raising a family. She and
her husband enjoyed many endeavors together. She retired in 1980. She is a
member of Bristol Lutheran Church. She also is a member of and volunteered
at the American Legion and crocheted baby caps for Meriter Hospital. She
loved to dance and enjoyed rides in the car.
She is survived by her 3 daughters, Patricia (Allan) Busse of Marquette, MI,
Rita (Bill Gerke) Hollis and Dona (Larry) Weisensel of Sun Prairie,
3 granddaughters, Tracy Busse, Tammy Karp and Teri (Lee) Haynes; 2
grandsons, Brandon (Liz) Weisensel and Kurtis Weisensel; 4 great grandchildren,
Kameron and Kaycee Karp; Jordan and Halle Haynes.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a sister, Van Schneider;
and several sisters and brothers-in-laws.
The family is grateful to her wonderful neighbors and to Dr Nosal.
A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 21, 2012 at the
Tuschen-Newcomer Funeral Home, 302 Columbus St, Sun Prairie. Pastor
Terry Larson will preside.
A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral
home on Saturday. Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens in Cottage Grove
immediately following the service.
