Lorraine Knorr, Age 95, passed away gracefully on Monday, April 13, 2015 at the Sun Prairie Health Care Center. She was born on February 1st, 1920 in Bristol Township the daughter of Otto & Edna (Schroud) Weisman. She met her husband Robert Knorr while attending DeForest High School where they both graduated in 1938. Lorraine married Bob on October 21, 1940 at Sacred Hearts of Jesus & Mary Catholic Church in Sun Prairie where they were both lifelong members and she was a member of the St. Ann's Altar Society. Lorraine was a member of the Colonial Club and loved living at the Colonial View Apartments for 25 years and volunteered for several years in the Store and at Social Gatherings. She enjoyed playing cards and was a master of puzzles. Lorraine was passionate about baseball and was often seen at Sunday Home Talent games watching her husband, then her sons and then her grandsons play throughout the decades. She was an avid sports fan of the Badgers, the Packers and especially the Brewers. Most near and dear to her heart were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and she was
able to attend her youngest great grand-daughter's first Birthday, a highlight of recent months for her. She is survived by her daughter Kay (Larry) Calkins of Sun Prairie; three sons–Chuck (Pat) of Wilsonville, Oregon, Tom, & Scott (Shelly) of Sun Prairie; a sister El Marie Dorshorst of Poynette; 10 grandchildren—Kristy (Mike) Maly, Mark (special friend Jamie) & Mike (Ann) Calkins all of the Sun Prairie area, Ty (Kathy) Calkins of Janesville, Kara (Todd) Eck of Forest Grove, Oregon, Jena (Mike) Hinnant and James (fiancé Sarah) of Wilsonville, Oregon, Abbi (Brock) Linde of Beaver Dam, Robbie & Andy also of Sun Prairie; 14 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceeded in death by her parents, her husband Bob, and her sister Bernice Mikula.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 17, 2015 at Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Catholic Church, 227 Columbus Street, Sun Prairie with Monsignor Duane Moellenberndt Presiding. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass on Friday. Burial will be at Memory Gardens following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Sacred Hearts Endowment Fund where her children and some of her grandchildren attended school. The family would like to thank the staff at Sun Prairie Health Care Center for their compassionate care over the past couple years.
