Bill Engelhart left a message on May 3, 2023:
I first met Les Sr. In 1969 when he came to my race shop in Madison and introduced himself. Our long friendship began that day. Over the years we hunted together and often met while listening to country music in various venues in and around Madison, as we had mutual friends who performed. Or at the Angell Park Speedway we all frequented over the years. He spoke of his amazing career with General Motors and fascinated us all with his in-depth ability to speak on so many topics including his involvement in the creation of the famed Corvette. People of this magnitude are too-few and far-between. In later years I also came to know his son, Les Jr, through auto racing at Angell Park Speedway where he was the General Manager. Over time we forged a close friendship I value greatly to this day. My sincere condolences to Les Jr, wife Dawn, their two sons and the entire family. Bill Engelhart
