Leonard William Ringelstetter, age 73, passed away on Tuesday, March 27, 2012, at St. Mary's Hospital surrounded by his family after a long illness.
Leonard “Len” was born on July 14, 1938, at the family farm in Spring Green Township, Sauk County, the son of Herman and Mary (Lehner) Ringelstetter. In 1945 he moved with his family to a farm near North Bristol. He was married to Kathryn “Kay” Ellen Pfaff on July 20, 1963, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, East Bristol.
Len graduated from Sun Prairie High School in 1956. He was first and foremost a farmer. He worked at Oscar Mayer/Kraft Foods for 35 years. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, East Bristol, and was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters. He served as a supervisor and chairman of the planning committee for the Town of Bristol. He was chairman of the Dane County Drainage Board. He loved spending time with his family and playing cards; and was well-known as a local historian of Bristol Township.
Len is survived by his wife of 48 years, Kathryn; his children Scott, Bill, Mary (Joel) Waldo, Jim (Brenda), and Ann (Terry) Bradshaw; 3 grandchildren, Abby and Ben Waldo, and Kate Bradshaw; sisters, Bernice Ringelstetter and Beatrice (Dean) Blau; brothers, Lawrence (Mary) and Richard (Audrey Kuehn). Further surviving are sisters-in-law, Lillian Ledger, Margaret, Mary Jane, Marlene, Marilyn Ringelstetter; and Mary (Jeff) Taylor; brothers-in-law, Paul Durst, Robert (Cathy) Pfaff and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Len was preceded in death by his parents; father and mother-in-law, Wilmer and Loretta Pfaff; brothers Mark, Victor, Louis, Edward, and George Ringelstetter; sisters Irene Durst and Mary (Roy) Schroud; sister-in-law Dorothy Ringelstetter.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 31, 2012 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in East Bristol with Father Rob Butz presiding. Burial will be in the church cemetery. A visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church on Saturday.
The family would like to thank the staff at Columbus Cardiac Rehab and his nurses at St. Mary's Hospital.
