Leon L. Jesberger, age 82, passed away quietly on Friday, July 25, 2014 with his daughter by his side. He was born on March 13, 1932 to George and Laura Jesberger in East Bristol. He lived in the Sun Prairie area his whole life. He graduated from Sun Prairie High School and enlisted in the Army. He served the the next 3 years in Japan and Korea until the war ended. He played football for the U.S. Army when stationed in Japan. Leon married Shirley Hoppe on May 14, 1955. They moved to their home and lived there 59 years. In 1956 their daughter was born and they bought a fuel oil distribution business. He and Shirley ran it for 35 years. Leon was a long standing and proud member of the American Legion Post #333 and V.F.W. Post #9362. He is survived by his wife, Shirley; daughter Karen (Steve) Matyas and his love, a schnauzer Jiggles; 4 sisters-in-law; many nieces and nephews plus many close friends and 6 godchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 31, 2014 at Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Catholic Church, 227 Columbus Street, Sun Prairie, with Monsignor Duane Moellenberndt presiding. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at The Tuschen-Newcomer Funeral Home, 302 Columbus St., Sun Prairie. Burial will be held at Sun Prairie Memory Gardens, where graveside military rites will be held. Karen and Shirley would like to thank caregivers at St. Mary's and Agrace Hospice for their kindness. ” I would like the memory of me to be a happy one; don't grieve, I had a good life.”
