It is with great sorrow we share that Kathryn Mary Osen, age 69, passed away on Saturday, March 16, 2024. You may know her as Kathy, Katie, Kate, and, to two special grandchildren, Nana. She was born on May 9, 1954, in Green Bay and was the daughter of Alexander “Smiley” and Rhoda (Luedke) Nicodem. Kate grew up in Seymour, where she graduated from high school in 1972. On July 19, 1975, she married James “Jim” Osen at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Seymour. They welcomed their only child Christopher in 1976. Kate worked in retail for Prange’s, Younkers, and Boston Store until the store closed in 2018. At that time, she joined Jim in retirement. She was an avid reader who loved to travel, especially to a warm location with palm trees, collect teddy bears, and spend time with her family.
She is survived by her husband Jim; their son Chris (Serena) of Sun Prairie; two grandchildren, Brielle and Asher; a sister Maribeth (Robert) Jenquine of Millsboro, DE; two brothers-in-law: Paul (Patrice) Osen of Muskego and J. Peter (Jeanne) Osen of Flower Mound, TX; a sister-in-law Barbara Osen of Orrs Island, ME; five nieces; two nephews; and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and parents-in-law Robert & Donna Osen.
A Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Monday, March 25, 2024, at the Tuschen-Newcomer Funeral Home, 302 Columbus Street in Sun Prairie. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Sun Prairie Public Library.
