Julie A. (Suchomel) Herskind, age 52, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Tuesday, September 17, 2013. She was born in Columbus on April 15, 1961 and was the daughter of Rudy and Janet (Weisman) Suchomel. She was the youngest of six children. She graduated from Sun Prairie High School in 1979. She was employed at the Bimbo Bakery (former Gardners Bakery) for many years. She played softball for many years and enjoyed watching her father and siblings play. Julie maintained her real estate license through the years. Her love for gardening was evident by her beautiful display of flowers at her home. She was studying to pass the Master's Gardeners Exam. She married Kevin Herskind on October 10, 2010. They enjoyed riding their Harley Davidson's Cycles in their free time and on trips. Julie was very helpful to her parents over the years and stopped often to assist them. Her cats and dogs were a big part of her life, as was the farm.
She is survived by her loving parents, brothers, Rudy (Sandy) of Portage, John of Sun Prairie, Rick (Debbie) of Madison; a sister, Bonnie (Dennis) Nagel of Sun Prairie; nieces and nephews, Bradley (Stacy) Suchomel, Rhonda (Devin) Wilson, Barry (Shannon) Suchomel, Nicholas Nagel, Kelly Suchomel, Michael Nagel, Lisa Nagel and Tina Suchomel; many aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Fredrick “Fritz”; nephews, Tim, John Jr., Joseph Suchomel and sister-in-law, Cynthia Suchomel.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 23, 2013 at St Albert the Great Catholic Church, 2420 St. Albert Drive in Sun Prairie. Monsignor Terrence Connors will preside. A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass at the church on Monday. Memorials can be made to St. Albert's Catholic Church or the Dane County Humane Society.
