Julia Anna Birkholz, age 77, passed away on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at Belmont Nursing Home in Madison. She was born on June 22, 1935 in Iowa City, Iowa and was the daughter of Theodore and Elizabeth (Boehm) Fay. After she graduated from High School Julia was accepted to Julliard as a pianist. Julia moved from Iowa over 30 years ago and met Harvey Birkholz at the Kayra Club in Madison and was married on October 20, 1990 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church. She is survived by her husband Harvey; a daughter Lisa (Richard) Miller of Salt Lake City, a son Steve Thompson of Milwaukee, 4 grandchildren, Sara, John, Shannon, Joanie; 20 great grandchildren, a brother Ted (Joanne) Fay of Lawrence, KS; a brother-in-law, Ken (Jesse) Birkholz of Sun Prairie; 3 sisters-in-law, Gertrude Lobenstein, Margaret Soma and Bernice Faltersack all of Sun Prairie
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church, 550 Lincoln Drive in Sun Prairie. Pastor David Berggren will preside. A burial will be held at Windsor Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until the time of services at the church on Tuesday. Memorials may be made to Our Savior's Lutheran.
