Josephine Marie Koenig, age 80, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, November 13, 2016 at her home. She was born on July 28, 1936 in Lodi and was the daughter of Thomas and Gertrude (Knuteson) Ryan. She married James C. Koenig on October 11, 1958 in Madison. During her husband's service of 26 years in the USAF she raised 5 children while traveling throughout the world. In addition, she worked as a nurse at St. Mary's hospital, as an operator at U.W. Madison, various positions at Famous Footwear and American Girl.
She is survived by her 3 sons, Robin (Tamara), Warren (Janice), Michael (Annette); a daughter, Becky Koenig. 6 grandchildren: Andy, Melissa, Kelsey, Tyler, Bethany, Amanda, a brother, Bill Ryan and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband James in 1992, a son James in 2015; 2 sisters, Geneva Larson and Rosemary Kearney, 2 brothers, Lawrence “Bud” Ryan and Delbert Ryan.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 17, 2016 at Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Catholic Church, 227 Columbus Street, Sun Prairie. Monsignor Duane Moellenberndt will preside. Burial will be at Sacred Hearts Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 16, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Tuschen-Newcomer Funeral Home, 302 Columbus St. Sun Prairie and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests making contributions to Sacred Hearts Church.
