What a great life your father had. He defined what it meant to be a good businessman. He wrote the book by example on fairness, and supporting his church and his community. When I was married to Brian, the family dinners where always fun. So many kids of all diffrent ages, a big plate of italian sausages and pasta shared with gusto on special saturday evenings. I remember one special Christmas when Joe bought Joyce a special clock that had a mouse on it that somehow moved up the clock when it chimed on the hour. She loved that present, and it was cute how he loved to surprise her. They had a lovely marriage, and I am sure that they are finally together again. We are what defines us, and for Joe, it was being a good supporter, in both his family and his community. He loved to greet all of his customers, and you always felt so welcome at his store. To this day, I love to support my local stores, the smaller ones, where you are a person that is known to the owner. Not just a number. Joe did not believe in numbers. The bottom line was not his profit margin, it was his service to his customers, family and community. Rest in Peace Joe, you will be missed. Carey Conrad OShea

Joe was a gentleman and a gentle man. I will never forget when I first moved to Sun Prairie in the '70s, and I had filled a cart with groceries only to find that I had left my cash and checkbook at home. Joe overheard my dilemma and told me to just pay the next time I came in to shop even though he didn't even know who I was. He always had a beautiful smile and greeting for everyone that came into the store.

We are truly blessed for having known Joe Conrad. He was a remarkable man. Our memories go back to the Sun Prairie Dinner Dance Club. We always had a wonderful time and enjoyed the evening. Whenever you entered his grocery store you were greeted like an old friend. Truly a wonderful person. Our prayers and thoughts are with the Conrad family.

We moved to Sun Prairie 31 years ago after my husband retired from the military. I presented check #001 from my newly opened checking acccount at Joe Conrad's Sentry on day two. Instead of giving me a hard time about the check #, he waved away my concern and welcomed me to Sun Prairie. I have never forgotten. Joe was a great guy, a true genleman. He will be missed.

To the Conrad family and friends, Joe embraced life with great value, may your lives remain enriched in knowing this character within your father and friend. “Try not to become a man of success. Rather become a man of value.” ― Albert Einstein

I remember when my Sister and I were just "knee high to grasshoppers". My Mom would always shop at Sentry and Joe would always have a smile and a piece of candy for us. Even when I got older he would remember me when I came in by myself. Such a Dear, Dear, man! Joe will be sorely missed! Thanks For The Memories Joe!

Joe had an immediate impact on my life when he hired me at 16. Taught me how to treat people and what customer service is all about. I have taken those lessons with me forever. I owe my skills and my success in sales and customer service to him. God be with you. You were a great man. Thank you for all you taught me. To all the Conrad kids, Joe was a great man and you were all fortunate to have him as a father. My heart goes out to you.

I remember as a young boy, my brother Wayne and I, going into the old store that was on the corner of Bristol and Main streets with our mother shopping and then crawling through the pile of cardboard boxes they had stored there. I will never forget how nice Joe, Joyce, Carl, & Betty were and how well I saw them treat everyone they knew. I am very sorry for the families loss.
