Joseph “Bud” A. Weisensel Jr., age 82, passed away on Thursday, January 8, 2015, at home. He was born on February 15, 1932 and died surrounded by loved ones on the family homestead after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the son of Joseph and Agnes (Weisman) Weisensel. He served in the Army National Guard for 8 years. He worked at Oscar Mayer for about 40 years and farmed his whole life. He married Theresa “Trixie” Blakley on September 17, 1987. He was a founder of the North Bristol Sportsmen's Club and was an avid hunter and fisherman.
He is survived by his wife, Trixie, 11 children, Joseph Allen (Peggy), Patricia (Gloyd) McKay, Colleen (Bill) Schroeder, Kevin (Nancy), Melanie (Gary) Dynes, Candy (Bob) Heyroth, Clayton (Teresa), Lisa (Tim) Jansen, Gidget (Darin) Bavery, Tina (Bruce) Weber, Lori Corser, 8 step children, Pat (Bill) Theel, Gary (Mary) Blakley, Debra Sauer, Joyce Blakley, Katie (Joe) Gosda, Greg Blakley, Robert (Theresa) Blakley, Randy (Heidi) Blakley; 46 grandchildren, 46 great- grandchildren, 3 sisters, Ruth Hanson, Gladys Olson, Helen Schwoerer, and a sister-in-law Stella Weisensel.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, Sylvester, Leroy, Verian, 4 sisters, Irene Moy Rait, Dorothy Tennie, Myrtle Schneider, and Cecile “Sue” Berg.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 14, 2015, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in East Bristol, 1935 County Hwy. V, Sun Prairie. Fr. Robert Butz will preside. Burial will be in the church cemetery. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 13, 2015, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Tuschen-Newcomer Funeral Home, 302 Columbus St. in Sun Prairie, and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass at the church on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Joseph's Catholic Church Building Fund or Columbus Community Hospital.
