Jonathan Paul Steffes, age 36, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, August 28, 2016 at his home. He was born on September 13, 1979 in Madison and was the son of Robert and Carol (Ratcliffe) Steffes.
Jon enjoyed family vacations, fishing, garage sales, spending time with family, and most importantly being with his son. He will be deeply missed by his entire family.
Jon is survived by his son, Matthew; parents, Robert and Carol; 1brother and 3 sisters JoAnn Steffes, Joyce (John) Edmonds, and Janet (Bob) Hamm, Jim (Kelli) Steffes 2 nieces, Sydney Walsh and Amanda Hamm; a nephew Harrison Steffes; aunts and uncles Ronald (Carol) Steffes, Donna (Jerry) Babineau, Richard (Karol) Steffes, and Irene Jordan and his many wonderful cousins; mother of Matthew, Heather Hofer; and best friend Will Wayland.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 3, 2016 at Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Catholic Church, 227 Columbus Street, Sun Prairie. Father Chahm Gahng will preside. Burial will be at Sacred Hearts Cemetery in Sun Prairie. A visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at the Tuschen-Newcomer Funeral Home 302 Columbus St. in Sun Prairie on Saturday.

Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful son and brother with the rest of us. He added so much joy to our lives whenever he was around at family gatherings. Whether he was wearing the little kids out with the wrestling, searching the graveyard for Polkadotti with them when it was 10 degrees while we were drinking our Brandy Slushes or taking them out fishing so we could stay back and relax at the cabin, he always did it with a smile and made them laugh. I'll never forget how Jon, my brother Will, and I stayed up late the night before Will's wedding so we could get his Corvair cleaned and detailed in time for Will and Missy to drive away from the church in it the next day. But that was just the kind of guy Jon was. He wasn't just a friend to us. He was family. And you can always count on family.
