John Voeltner, age 81, passed away on March 7, 2024 at Sienna Crest Assisted Living in Marshall. He was born in Wausau and was the son of Robert and Lois (Rockman) Voeltner. He graduated from Mosinee High School in 1960. He married Nedra Mientke on October 23, 1965. He is survived by his wife; a sister Mary Mertinke; a brother Charles (Gini) Voeltner and a brother-in-law Calvin Mientke.
He was a professional semi driver all his life. After graduation, he started working for ATC Trucking in Mosinee, hauling meat products for Oscar Mayer and Paper products for Mosinee Paper Mill. He served in the Wisconsin National Guard from 1964 -1970. They moved to Madison area in 1966. They built a house in York Township on “Oakhurst” in 1977. He purchased a semi-tractor and formed his own company in 1982, hauling for Oscar Mayer Co. of Madison. He sold his trucking equipment in 1994 and began working for Joe Tuschen Trucking of Sun Prairie from 1995 until retirement in 2007, after hauling Wisconsin milk south to Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama, Iowa, Georgia and especially to the Indianapolis and St. Louis Areas.
He enjoyed playing sheepshead and cribbage. He took ill in 2020 having many medical challenges the rest of his life. He loved his nieces and nephews and good friends. Special Thanks to Agrace Hospice, nurses and the Sienna Crest Care facility staff who were wonderful people.
There will be no services. Those wishing to make a donation in his name make it to Agrace Hospice or the Dane County Humane Society.
