John J. Trepes, age 85, passed away with his family at his side on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at HospiceCare in Fitchburg. He was born on October 19, 1932 in Kendall and was the son of Frank and Margaret (Sweeney) Trepes. He married Dorothy O'Dell on May 26, 1956 in Mauston. John served in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954 in Germany. He worked for Mertens Transport and Gilman Truck & Equip. as a mechanic.
He is survived by a daughter Patty (Doug) Geske of Sun Prairie; He helped raise two nephews and a niece, Danny (Irlene) O'Dell of Richmond, Illinois, Scott O'Dell (Sue) of Madison; seven grandchildren, Holly (Rad) Deering of Madison, Danny Jr., Zachery, Joseph O'Dell of Richmond, Illinois, Matt, Tommy and Tony O'Dell of Madison a great granddaughter, Skye Deering; brothers, Francis Trepes of Kendall, Leo (Karen) Trepes of West Bend; sisters, Verna Doyle of Wilton, Margaret Hubele of Wonewoc; brother and sisters-in-law, and very special close nieces and nephews other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Dorothy; a niece Dawn O'Dell and a granddaughter Amber O'Dell; sister-in-law Zelma Trepes; brothers-in-law Jim Doyle and Fritz Hubele.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 22, 2018 at Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Catholic Church, 227 Columbus Street in Sun Prairie. Father Savio Yerasani will preside. Burial will be held in Sacred Hearts Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Sunday, January 21, 2018, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Tuschen-Newcomer Funeral Home, 302 Columbus St. in Sun Prairie and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church on Monday. A rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. A special thanks to his family, Francis, Margaret, Verna, Leo, Karen for all the weekend visits and the things that his many nieces and nephews did for him. Also Dr. Schug, the nurses at Oak Park, Agrace Hospice for their wonderful care and support. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund is being established.
