John J. Renz Sr., age 78, died unexpectedly on Saturday, September 26, 2015 at his home. He was born on December 1, 1936 on the family farm and was the son of Joseph and Beatrice (Klubertanz) Renz.
He married Mary Lou Olson on January 13, 1962 at St. Bernards Catholic Church in Madison. John grew up on the family farm and continued on farming until his death. He served in the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1961.

He is survived by his children, John Jr. (Denise) Renz of Poynette, Jamie Renz of Cottage Grove, Jennifer (Gary) Ruchti of Verona; a son-in-law Robert Morschauser of Sun Prairie; 12 grandchildren, Katie and Jessie Morschauser, Austin, Rachel and Jared Renz, Jim Jr. and Jason Moore, Justin Renz, Lauren, Alex ,Evan and Jack Ruchti; his sisters, Marilyn (Randy) Leifheit of Sandwich, IL, Janice (Tim) Noll of Cross Plains, Jeanne (Harlan) Fox of Sun Prairie, Susan Freidel of Columbus; a brother Roger (Barb) Renz of Sun Prairie

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary; daughter Jacquelyn Morschauser and an infant brother.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, October 2, 2015 at Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Catholic Church, 227 Columbus Street, Sun Prairie with Father Chahm Ghang presiding. Burial will be at Sacred Hearts Cemetery. A visitation will be held at Tuschen-Newcomer Funeral Home on Thursday, October 1, 2015 from 4 to 8 p.m. and from 10:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m at the funeral home on Friday. A rosary will be held at 7:30 p.m

My last memory of John was in May. I was driving to America's Best Flowers (Cottage Grove) to buy Spring flowers. Driving by John's house I beeped. The way the sun was set in the sky, John was outside approaching the side door coming up the steps. With his American flag blowing in the breeze, I could only notice John's silhouette as he waved back to me. As I said today, if John had a wish here on earth, it will come true in heaven. I always enjoyed visiting the Renz farm as a small child. Uncle John was always in the barn tending to the cows. It was facinating to be in the barn. I always thought May Lou and John were such a special couple together and now they are reunited again. May God be there to comfort you during this difficult time.
